Yasir Usman wrote Rekha’s biography Rekha: The Untold Story. This book was published in 2016. In this he had claimed about Rekha’s live-in relationship with her secretary Farzana. Rekha’s sister-in-law also reacted to this. His claim was- ‘Something different was going on between Rekha and Farzana. Having a friend or sister is different, but the behavior of both of them was not like that.

However, then the writer of the biography reacted to these rumours. He had said – ‘Referring from my book Rekha-The Untold Story, the reports claiming Rekha to have a live-in relationship with her secretary are fake, fabricated and wrong. Which have been written with the intention of spreading sensation. Whatever has been written in the media is not written in my book. There is no mention of live-in relationship or any kind of physical relationship in my book.
On these rumours, Rekha had said – ‘Whatever rumors are being spread about us are the product of ill thinking.’
It’s despicable how clickbait journalism has an aversion towards verifying facts. And most often they target women.

In an interview given to Masala, the writer had said about Farzana – ‘Farzana’s father was a production controller. Farzana initially wanted to become a director. He also assisted some directors. But then he realized that this was not in his control. Then in the mid-80s, Farzana connected with Rekha and became her secretary. So they have been together for years. Farzana worked very diligently for Rekha. Today it is impossible to meet Rekha without Farzana’s permission.
